Progression

Sword x Staff Progression Roadmap

A stage-by-stage guide from level 1 to endgame.

Covers early game push, mid-game class promotions, the level 100 free respec, seasonal progression, and endgame raid preparation.

Overview

Sword x Staff progression is split into three main phases: early game (Lv. 1–100), mid game (Lv. 100–120), and endgame (Lv. 120+). At level 100 you get a free full respec, which is the best time to optimize your class path. After level 100, progression becomes seasonal — season progress converts to permanent account bonuses.

Early game (Lv. 1–100)

Primary goals

  • Push main quest aggressively to unlock new features and regions.
  • Reach 100% map exploration in each region — activate Goddess Statues to clear fog and boost idle drop efficiency.
  • Save skill tickets: Don't spend pulls on Tier 1 skills. Save for Tier 2+ skills available later.
  • Farm basic gear from Normal/Hard dungeons — don't over-invest in early equipment.

What to skip early

  • Don't waste stamina on optional map monsters.
  • Don't chase perfect gear rolls — you'll replace everything.
  • Don't spend premium currency on the standard banner — use the selector at 200 pulls.
  • Don't reroll — the game gives hundreds of free pulls.

Regions to complete

The world of Kanstein spans four regions: VerdantgladeCinder RidgeAqualisLoong Haven. Your second class advancement unlocks at Cinder Ridge.

Level 100 — free respec opportunity

At level 100, you receive a free full respec. This is the optimal time to:

  • Switch classes if your current path isn't working. Many players switch to Duelist here for the 4th promotion meta.
  • Reallocate stats based on your final class choice.
  • Reassign gems to match your new build direction.
  • Plan your promotions: You'll unlock promotions 2–4 around this level range.

Mid game (Lv. 100–120)

  • Unlock promotions 2–4: Your class evolves through multiple tiers (e.g., Warrior → Knight → Paladin → Guardian → Warden).
  • Focus on core skills: Upgrade your main combo skills to max before spreading resources.
  • Begin seasonal progression: After level 100, progression becomes seasonal. Complete season objectives for permanent account bonuses.
  • Build elemental setups: Start preparing multiple elemental gear sets for 6-player raids.
  • Relic completion: Aim for at least 50% relic completion in every region. Focus on your main element's set bonuses.

Endgame (Lv. 120+)

  • 6-Player Raids: High-difficulty content with rotating elemental weaknesses. Requires coordinated parties and multiple elemental builds.
  • High-difficulty dungeons: Farm for endgame gear and rare materials. Higher difficulty = better rewards but requires strong teams.
  • Guild Wars: Competitive guild content. Essential for rare materials and ranking rewards.
  • Core base traits: Max out your core character traits for permanent stat bonuses.
  • Phantom Beast optimization: Gold-tier Phantom Beasts from special events for maximum combat support.

Seasonal progression system

After level 100, progression shifts to a seasonal model:

  • Each season introduces new objectives and challenges.
  • Season progress converts to permanent account bonuses — you keep spells, pets, and core progression across seasons.
  • New skills and Phantom Beasts are added seasonally.
  • Meta builds shift with new skill tiers and seasonal updates.

FAQ

What class should beginners pick?

Knight (tank) is the most forgiving for absolute beginners. Warrior (melee DPS) is the best all-rounder for solo and group play. Sorcerer (magic DPS) excels at farming but is squishy. Mage (support/healer) is essential for group content but slow solo. See the Classes guide for a full comparison.

How do I plan a build as a beginner?

Start with a simple template, add stability first, then optimize. Warrior Bruiser is the recommended starter build. The Best Builds page has templates for all 4 classes.

Why do "best builds" differ between players?

Progression stage, available skills, execution comfort, and mode goals all change what feels "best". A good build is repeatable and fits your current bottleneck.

How many languages does Sword x Staff support?

The App Store currently shows 7 supported languages: English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.
